Resolution 2011-3 – REGARDING THE EFFORTS of CITY of AMSTERDAM COUNTY SUPERVISORS to RETAIN CRITICAL FUNDING for the COUNTY ARCHIVES

WHEREAS, the recently proposed elimination of a part-time Historical Archives Assistant at the Montgomery County Department of History and Archives would have created a severe limitation on the availability of the Amsterdam historical materials contained therein, and further, placed the preservation of those materials at considerable risk; and,

WHEREAS, The actions of the City of Amsterdam’s Supervisors were essential in preventing this circumstance, now,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Historic Amsterdam League wished to express its gratitude to the aforesaid City of Amsterdam Supervisors for their actions in maintaining at least a minimal level of staffing at the County Archives, preserving the materials and access to the same; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the president of the League be directed to communicate this appreciation to said County Supervisors.
